Josh Crick, Catawba Ridge football: The Copperheads’ sophomore kicker made two field goals and an extra point to help lead Catawba Ridge to a 13-3 win over Fort Mill on Nov. 7 in the first round of the 5A Division II state playoffs.

Crick also had four touchbacks on the kickoffs in the same game for Catawba Ridge (6-5).

Hudson Haley, Fort Mill cross-country: The Yellow Jackets’ junior ran a 16:36.60 to win the 5A Division II Upper State Qualifier on the Farm Course in Newberry on Nov. 8.

Haley’s run also helped Fort Mill to 36-point victory at the same meet.

Jvon Kelly, Andrew Jackson football: The 5-8, 160-pound junior running back rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, while also catching three passes for 74 yards and another score in a 34-15 win over Ninety-Six High in the first round of the 2A state playoffs on Nov. 7.

Kelly also had four tackles in the victory.

Kelly has rushed for 650 yards and six touchdowns, caught eight passes for 99 and a touchdown, and made 44 tackles on defense for Andrew Jackson (7-4) this season.

Nigel Lightner, Rock Hill football: The 6-foot, 186-pound junior receiver had 10 catches for 102 yards in a 47-0 win over Spring Valley in the first round of the 5A Division I state playoffs on Nov. 7.

Lightner also had five tackles and an interception as a defensive back in the same game.

Lightner has 45 catches for 594 yards and seven touchdowns, while also making 52 tackles and three interceptions on defense for Rock Hill (7-4) this season.

Ella Nighbor, Clover girls’ cross-country: The Blue Eagles’ senior ran a 18:30 to win the 5A Division I Upper State Qualifier on the Farm Course in Newberry on Nov. 8.

Nighor, a University of South Carolina commit, also led Clover to 22-point victory at the same meet.

Robert Saddler, Nation Ford cross-country.: The Falcons’ junior ran a 17:20.40 to finish fifth at the 5A Upper State Division II State Qualifier on the Farm Course in Newberry on Nov. 8.

Saddler’s efforts also helped Nation Ford to a third-place finish at the same event.
