J’Zavien Currence, South Pointe football: The 6-3, 210-pound senior quarterback completed 14 of 18 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 101 yards and three more scores in a 56-14 win over A.C. Flora in the 4A state quarterfinals on Nov. 21.
Currence also had three tackles in the same game as a defensive back.
Currence, a University of South Carolina commit, has passed for 2,555 yards and 22 touchdowns, rushed for 1,396 yards and 16 touchdowns, and has 75 tackles and three interceptions for South Pointe (12-1) this season.
M.J. Littlejohn, Westminster Catawba basketball: The 6-6 senior scored 31 points and had 10 rebounds and three steals in a 67-35 win over First Presbyterian on Nov. 20.
Littlejohn also had 20 points, seven rebounds and four steals in a 78-33 win over Walnut Grove Christian in the opening round of the “The Run to the Rock Tip-Off” tournament on Nov. 21.
Littlejohn finished off the week with eight points in Westminster Catawba’s 69-58 win over Jackson Day in the championship game of the same event.
Littlejohn is averaging 15.7 points per game for Westminster Catawba (6-0) this season.
Nigel Smith, Northwestern football: The 5-8, 160-pound senior running back had 145 yards rushing on 18 carries to help Northwestern to a 52-45 win over Gaffney in the 5A Division II state quarterfinals on Nov. 21.
Smith has rushed for 1,021 yards and 10 touchdowns for Northwestern (11-1) this season.
