Northwestern names new basketball coaches
John Bramlett has coached the Northwestern girls’ basketball team since 2007, but he’ll be in charge of the Trojan boys this coming season.
Bramlett takes over for Larry Davis, who resigned his position last week to take an assistant coaching job at Newberry College.
Lisa Rivers will assume the girls’ head coaching gig. She coached the program from 1995 to 2000, going 109-46 and winning two region championships. She’s coached the Trojans’ JV program and teaches science at the school. Rivers was inducted into the Lewisville High School Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014 in honor of her decorated prep and college career, at Francis Marion University.
Bramlett, who is an assistant athletic director and teaches AP history, won region championships in 2009, 2010, 2013 and last winter, while leading the Trojans to the playoffs each of the last eight seasons. He finished his time in charge of the girls with a 136-41 record and three region coach of the year honors, and sent 13 players to the college ranks.
