High school sports roundup: Fort Mill volleyball improves to 4-0

VOLLEYBALL

Fort Mill 3, Rock Hill 1 - The Yellow Jackets won 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, and 25-22 over the Bearcats in a Region 3-4A contest at Rock Hill.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Tessa Grubbs with 26 kills, Brooke Farley with 45 assists, and Payton Carter with 16 kills and 14 digs.

The win improved Fort Mill to 4-0 in the region, while Rock Hill dropped to 1-3 in the region. Fort Mill is the only undefeated team in region play.

Nation Ford 3, York 0

The Falcons won 25-17, 25-15, and 25-10 to defeat the Cougars in a Region 3-4A match at Nation Ford.

The win improved the Falcons to 2-1 in the region.

The Bearcats improved to 6-0 and moved into sole possession of first place in the region with a win over the previously unbeaten Yellow Jackets in a Region 3-4A match at Rock Hill.

Clinton 7, South Pointe 0 - The Red Devils won every match and toppled the Stallions in a Region 3-3A contest at South Pointe.

South Pointe 166, York 193 - The Stallions topped the Cougars in a non-region match at Pinetuck Golf Club. The Stallions were led by Jodee Tindal and Whitney Carter, who tied for medalist honors with rounds of 36. The win improved South Pointe to 5-0 on the year.

York - Sarah Smith 38, Amiyah Starnes 47, Tori Thompson 52, Liza Tolson 56.

Fort Mill 6, Nation Ford 1 - The Lady Jackets won four singles matches and two doubles contests to defeat the Falcons in a Region 3-4A match.

Fort Mill improved to 9-0 with the win.
