Top-10 performances by local college football players from the weekend of Oct. 17

Beau Nunn, Appalachian State- former York Cougar started at right tackle for the Mountaineers as they rolled to a 59-14 win over Louisiana-Monroe. ASU is 5-1 after running for 379 yards on 50 attempts, an average of 7.6 yards per run. Nunn’s team has rushed for over 300 yards in half of its games this fall.

Abri Tate, Bryant- Nation Ford grad made five tackles, with 1.5 sacks part of his 2.5 tackles-for-loss during Bryant’s 38-17 win over Duquesne Saturday. Tate, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound senior defensive lineman, has at least a half tackle-for-loss in five of six games this season.

Logan Ard, Limestone- former South Pointe kicker hit two field goals Saturday, including a 20-yard game-winner that pushed the Saints to a 28-25 overtime victory against Brevard. Ard hit 2-of-3 field goals, with his second one blocked.

Mitchell Jeter, The Citadel- Rock Hill’s Jeter had a monster game during The Citadel’s 44-25 win over Samford on Saturday, recording three sacks to go with five tackles. The Bulldogs stayed undefeated in Southern Conference play.

Tony Godbolt, North Greenville- Fort Mill Yellow Jacket was busy buzzing about North Greenville’s secondary during the Crusaders’ 35-24 win over Tusculum on Saturday, making seven tackles (one for a loss), forcing a fumble and intercepting a pass just before halftime.

Devin Pearson, Charlotte- the 49ers narrowly lost to Old Dominion 37-34, but South Pointe’s Pearson had another productive game from his safety position, making four tackles, including one for a loss, and forcing a third quarter fumble, his second of the season.

Andre Foulks, Wingate- the Bulldogs improved to 6-1 with a 24-14 win over Lenoir-Rhyne, and Foulks, the former York Cougar, contributed a team-high 11 tackles.

Ervin Moore, Concord (W.Va.)- Lancaster’s Moore continued an excellent senior season Saturday with career highs of 12 tackles and two forced fumbles, with a pass break-up to boot during Concord’s 23-21 loss to Notre Dame College (Ohio).

Lee Wright, Youngstown State- the Penguins lost 38-8 to South Dakota State, but former York standout Wright led YSU with nine tackles, including two for a loss and a sack.

Worth Gregory, East Carolina- Fort Mill’s Gregory continued his excellent junior season on Saturday during ECU’s 30-17 win over Tulsa. Gregory hit eight punts with five downed inside the 20 and a long of 68. The transfer from Alabama is averaging over 43 yards per kick this fall, with 15 of his 32 punts downed inside the 20. Opposing teams are averaging just 3.7 yards per punt return against Gregory and ECU.

Other notable performances

Shuler Littleton, Campbell- redshirt freshman offensive lineman from York has been getting playing time for Campbell off the bench and recorded his second college stat Saturday during the Camels’ 16-6 win over Stetson. Unfortunately, it was a tackle after Campbell’s QB tossed an interception.

Nick Raszeja, LaGrange (Ga.)- Fort Mill grad’s team lost to Huntingdon (Ala.), but Rasezja made a team-high 10 tackles, with eight solos.

Jaleel Scott, Ellsworth Community College (Iowa)- Rock Hill Bearcat caught four passes for 33 yards and a touchdown during Ellsworth’s 41-23 win over Independence Community College Saturday. Scott, a 6-foot-5 sophomore, has five TD grabs this season.

Tyrell Curry, Eastern Kentucky- former Rock Hill Bearcat made eight tackles from his safety position during the Colonels’ 27-10 win over Southeastern Missouri. Eastern Kentucky is 3-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference and ranked 14th nationally in FCS.

Nate Casey, Davidson- good game Saturday for the former Westminster Catawba player during the Wildcats’ 38-7 loss to Butler. Casey made four tackles, including 1.5 for a loss, and also broke up a pass.

Shawn McCullough, Mesabi Range Community College (Minn.)- former South Pointe running back caught a five-yard touchdown pass for Mesabi Range’s only score in a 32-7 loss to Dakota.

Dijuan Ussery, Missouri Western- Nation Ford speedster caught two passes for five yards, and returned three kickoffs for 123 yards during Missouri Western’s 21-7 loss to Washburn. Ussery returned a kick 84 yards that set up the Griffons’ lone score.

Alstevis Squirewell, Newberry- Great Falls’ Squirewell made two tackles during the Wolves’ loss to Carson-Newman.

Rod Byers, Clemson- former Northwestern Trojan defensive lineman made a season-high four tackles as the Tigers beat Boston College 34-17.

Akiven Williams, Apprentice School (Va.)- Apprentice School got its first win of the season, beating Alfred State 44-13. Williams, the former Lewisville player, made a pair of tackles and recovered a fumble.

Riley Hilton, Presbyterian- Nation Ford pass-catcher made a one-yard grab during the Blue Hose’s 10-7 loss to Charleston Southern.

Corey Dover, Newberry- former York Cougar made a tackle during the Wolves’ 27-20 loss to Carson-Newman.

Chris Bouyer, East Tennessee State- former Northwestern Trojan Shrine Bowler made a tackle but couldn’t prevent first-year program ETSU from falling 52-0 to Mercer.

Andrew Komornik, Gardner-Webb- Nation Ford’s Komornik punted six times with three downed inside the 20-yard line during the Runnin’ Bulldogs’ 12-7 loss to Kennesaw State.

Tay Hicklin, Georgia Southern- South Pointe grad made four tackles during Georgia Southern’s 56-26 win over New Mexico State. Hicklin and the Eagles face a possible Sun Belt Conference championship decider on Thursday against Appalachian State.

Gerald Dixon, Jr., South Carolina- Northwestern Trojan made a tackle and recorded a quarterback hurry during the Gamecocks’ 19-10 win over Vanderbilt.

Landon Ard, South Carolina- South Pointe’s Ard hit four of six kickoffs against Vanderbilt for touchbacks during the Gamecocks’ win.

Quan Caldwell, South Carolina State- freshman from Chester caught one pass for eight yards during the Bulldogs’ win over Howard.

Zeek Rodney, Wake Forest- South Pointe Shrine Bowler made a single tackle during the Demon Deacon’s 50-14 loss to UNC on Saturday night.

Quay Reid, South Carolina State- Lancaster sophomore made a solo tackle during his first appearance of the season, South Carolina State’s win over Howard.
