Locals named to North-South golf, volleyball all-star events

South Pointe’s Whitney Carter will represent the Stallions in the North-South golf all-star match this weekend near Columbia.

Several volleyball players are involved in all-star events, too. Tessa Grubbs (Fort Mill), Jessica Kemp (Nation Ford) and Nadia White (Northwestern) made the North 3A/4A squad, as did Lancaster’s Hayden Thorne and South Pointe’s Maddy Paladino.

The North-South golf match will be played Nov. 13 and 14 at Timberlake Country Club in Chapin. North-South volleyball will be held Nov. 19 through 21 at Erskine College.

▪ Kemp picked up another honor recently. Under Armour named the future N.C. State volleyball player a second team All-American, while Fort Mill’s Grubbs, who will sign with Tennessee this week, and Payton Carter were both named honorable mention selections.
