Manchester Cup is Saturday in Rock Hill

Winthrop is hosting the 2016 Manchester Cup on Saturday.

The event, held at Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex, again features some of the best college soccer programs in the Carolinas, as well as Palmetto State prep soccer powerhouses.

The high school portion of the event features four teams ranked in the state in their respective classifications. The college section will feature Davidson, Furman, College of Charleston, and of course Winthrop, some of the country’s best small school soccer powers. Winthrop will be playing its first competitive games under new head coach Daniel Ridenhour, who takes over for Rich Posipanko after a long stretch as the program’s top assistant coach.

Tournament passes cost $7 for adults and $5 for students. For additional information call the Winthrop soccer office at 803-323-2129, ext. 6236 or 6256.
