High school roundup: Nation Ford baseball edges Fort Mill

Nation Ford broke a 3-all tie after five innings and edged Fort Mill 4-3 in a Region 3-4A game at Fort Mill Thursday night.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Fort Mill 13, Nation Ford 11: Fort Mill came from behind and edged Nation Ford in a Region 3-4A contest at Fort Mill.

Fort Mill led 6-5 at halftime, but Nation Ford rallied to take a 10-9 lead in the second half. When Charlotte Anderson scored for Fort Mill the game was knotted at 10.

Fort Mill outscored Nation Ford 3-1 the rest of the way to secure the win.

Northside 8, Westminster Catawba 0: Northside defeated Westminster Catawba in a Metro Athletic Conference game at Northside.

Jake Early took the loss for Westminster Catawba, which fell to 10-3 overall with the loss.

Clinton 2, Chester 0: Clinton made the most of five hits and edged Chester in a Region 3-3A game at Clinton.

Tristan Smaltz scattered six hits and picked up the win. Ty Good took the loss for Chester.

Good led Chester offensively with a pair of hits.

Clover 2, Rock Hill 1: Clover scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh and edged Rock Hill in a Region 3-4A contest at Clover.

Noah Lindsay pitched a complete game to get the win. He struck out three and walked only one. Conner Edkins took the loss for Rock Hill.

Kaleb Strader led Clover offensively with two hits.

Clover 12, Northwestern 5: Clover pounded out 15 hits and defeated Northwestern in a Region 3-4A game at Northwestern.

Kayla Ogle pitched a complete game and struck out 11 to pick up the win.

Tiffanhy Domingue led Clover at the plate with three doubles and a home run. Kailey Carpenter added a home run for Clover.

Northwestern was led by Annie Green, who had three hits. Rachel Marion, Cassie Wancheck, and Daina Chase each had two hits for Northwestern.

Clover improved to 14-6 overall with the win.
