The South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association has released its latest poll and Northwestern and Lewisville are included.

Lewisville 15, Great Falls 7

Lewisville scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning to solidify a 15-7 win over Great Falls in a Region 3-A game at Great Falls Tuesday night.

Alex Reed hit a pair of home runs and drove in six runs to lead Lewisville. His first was a three-run shot that gave Lewisville an 8-3 lead after two innings. His second came in the six-run rally in the seventh that put the game away,

Pearce Funderburk led Great Falls with a two-run home run.

Gaffney 3, Fort Mill 0

Gaffney scored single runs in the first, fourth, and seventh innings and beat Fort Mill 3-0 in a Region 3-4A game at Fort Mill.

The loss eliminated Fort Mill from playoff contention.

SOFTBALL

Fort Mill 2, Gaffney 0

Fort Mill edged Gaffney 2-0 in a Region 3-4A game at Gaffney.

Payton Lemire hit a pair of home runs to lead Fort Mill.

Bella Roy struck out 17 and picked up the victory for Fort Mill, which improved to 11-0 in region play.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Four local players named to all-star roster

Four local players have been selected to represent South Carolina in the Clash of the Carolinas against North Carolina. The game will be played on July 9 at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, N.C.

Kevin Garces of Nation Ford, Garrett Gerdes of Indian Land, Dylan Jones of Clover, and Loughan Welborn of Northwestern will be on the 18-man South Carolina roster.

Coaches announce new poll

The South Carolina Soccer Coaches Association has announced its poll for this week, and four local teams made the list.

Nation Ford took a 5-2 lead at halftime and defeated Riverside 11-4 in the opening round of the playoffs at Nation Ford.

Fort Mill 11, Christ Church 9

Fort Mill established a 7-5 lead at halftime and toppled Christ Church 11-9 in the opening round of the playoffs at Fort Mill.

LATE MONDAY

BASEBALL

Indian Land 10, North Central 7

Indian Land scored three runs in the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead and went on to defeat North Central 10-7 in a Region 4-2A game at North Central.

Daniel Gueldner led Indian Land with three hits and a pair of runs batted in. Hunter Laney pitched the final two innings for Indian Land and picked up the win.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Fort Mill 2, Rock Hill 0

Fort Mill scored one goal in each half and toppled Rock Hill 2-0 in a Region 3-4A match at Fort Mill.

BOYS’ GOLF

Fort Mill 162, Northwestern 165

Fort Mill defeated Northwestern 162-165 at Fort Mill Golf Club.

Payne Gettys of Northwestern carded a 37 to earn medalist honors.
