High school roundup: Nation Ford girls win Upper State lacrosse title
GIRLS’ LACROSSE
Nation Ford 15, J.L. Mann 14
The Nation Ford Falcons built a four-goal lead late in the game, withstood a comeback attempt by the defending state champion J.L. Mann Patriots and claimed a 15-14 win in the Upper State girls’ lacrosse championship Tuesday night in Greenville.
The win sends Nation Ford to the state championship on Saturday against the winner of the contest between Wando and Bishop England.
Nation Ford broke a 6-6 tie and established a 9-6 lead at halftime. Sam McNeil’s goal broke the tie and made it 7-6. The Falcons added two more goals in the last 19 seconds to take the three-goal lead at intermission.
When Alexis Walden scored for Nation Ford in the second half, the Falcons owned a 12-7 lead. Ava Alvarez answered with two goals for J.L. Mann, before McNeil scored for the Falcons to make it 13-9.
Alvarez scored two more goals for the Patriots to cut it to 13-11, but Walden answered for Nation Ford, and it was 14-11. When Megan Gallagher scored for the Falcons the lead was 15-11.
Taylor Williams scored a pair of goals for J.L. Mann to cut the deficit to 15-13 with 2:35 to play.
Abby Taylor’s goal with 26 seconds left was the final goal for the Patriots.
BASEBALL
Lewisville 11, Andrew Jackson 1
Lewisville celebrated senior night with an 11-1 win over Andrew Jackson at Richburg.
Trey Keels pitched a complete game, scattering three hits to get the win and even his record at 3-3 on the year. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter.
Denver Moseley led Lewisville offensively with two hits and four runs batted in.
Lewisville improved to 14-6 on the year as the Lions head to the playoffs on Thursday against Calhoun County in St. Matthews.

Westminster Catawba 10, Concord Assemby 9
Westminster Catawba scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh and edged Concord Assembly 10-9 in a Metro Athletic Conference game at Westminster Catawba.
Jake Early picked up the victory for Westminster Catawba, which finished fourth in the conference with a 13-5 overall record.
Early, who delivered the game-winning two-run double to cap the rally in the seventh, had three hits and drove in five runs.
Tristan Thomas and Carson Rowland each added three hits and one RBI to the attack.
Westminster Catawba finished fourth in the conference this year.
Coaches announce final regular season poll
The South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association announced it most recent poll, and Northwestern and Lewisville are ranked in the top 10.

Fort Mill routed Gaffney 8-0 in a Region 3-4A contest at Gaffney.
Eight different players scored for Fort Mill as the Yellow Jackets improved to 11-0 in the region and 16-1-3 overall on the year.

Lewisville 4, McBee 1
Lewisville defeated McBee 4-1 in a tiebreaker game to claim first place in the region heading to the playoffs on Thursday.
Tori Ernandez tossed a complete game and earned the win.
Lewisville is 18-4 overall on the year. This is the fourth year in a row the Lions have won the region title.

Indian Land 1, St. Joseph’s 0
Top-ranked Indian Land scored in overtime and edged St. Joseph’s 1-0 in a non-region match in Greenville.
Reagan Hunter delivered the winning goal for Indian Land as the Warriors improved to 20-1 on the year.
Indian Land outshot St. Joseph’s 23-7 for the game.
Emma Thompson worked in the goal for Indian Land and recorded the shutout.
Chester 2, Gaffney 1
Chester scored one goal in each half and edged Gaffney 2-1 in a non-region match at Chester.
Deja Marshall scored the first Chester goal with an assist from Abby Gulish. Ren Beam scored Chester’s second goal with an assist from Marshall.

Gaffney 4, Fort Mill 2
Gaffney won three singles matches and one doubles contest and defeated Fort Mill 4-2 in a Region 3-4A match at Gaffney.
