High school roundup: Fort Mill girls rout Easley 10-0 in soccer playoffs

GIRLS SOCCER

Fort Mill 10, Easley 0

Top-seeded Fort Mill scored five goals in each half and routed Easley 10-0 in the opening round of the Class 4A girls’ soccer playoffs Monday night at Fort Mill.

Annika Ford led the way for Fort Mill with three goals. Meredith Christopher and Kimber Haley added two goals each to the Yellow Jackets’ attack.

Fort Mill will host Wade Hampton on Wednesday in the second round.

Nation Ford 1, Greenville 0

Nation Ford scored the only goal of the game in the second half and edged Greenville 1-0 in the first round of the Class 4A girls’soccer playoffs Monday night in Greenville.

The win sends Nation Ford to the second round on Wednesday at Dutch Fork.

T.L. Hanna 2, Rock Hill 0

T.L. Hanna scored two goals in the second half and defeated Rock Hill 2-0 in the first round of the Class 4A girls’ soccer playoffs Monday night in Anderson.

The loss eliminated Rock Hill from the playoffs.

BASEBALL

Nation Ford 5, Mauldin 1

Nation Ford scored five runs in the first two innings and held off a late rally to beat Mauldin 5-1 in the second round of the District II Class 4A baseball playoffs Monday night at Mauldin.

Evan Lammers pitched six innings to get the win for Nation Ford. He allowed four hits and struck out three.

Cole Martin pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh to earn the save.

Nick Hoffman’s two-run double was the key hit in the three-run rally for Nation Ford in the second inning as the Falcons took a 5-0 lead.

Indian Land 3, Pelion 1

Indian Land stayed alive in the District III Class 2A playoffs Monday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Pelion in Indian Land.

Indian Land scored in the first inning for a quick 1-0 lead. After Pelion tied the score in the third, Indian Land got two more in the fifth to take the lead and hold on for the win.

Seth Bevans pitched five innings and earned the win. He struck out four.

Indian Land plays at Saluda on Wednesday in the district championship game.

Chapin 10, South Pointe 0

Chapin scored two runs in the first inning and never looked back in blanking South Pointe 10-0 in a second round game in the District IV Class 3A baseball playoffs Monday night at Chapin.

Evan Estridge’s two-run home run in the bottom of the first got Chapin started. The loss eliminated South Pointe from the playoffs.

Brashier Middle College 6, Great Falls 5

Brashier Middle College scored in the bottom of the ninth to edge Great Falls 6-5 in the second round of the District IV Class A baseball playoffs Monday afternoon in Greer.

The contest was a completion of the game halted by rain on Saturday with Great Falls leading 5-4 heading to the bottom of the eighth inning.

Brashier Middle College tied the game in the bottom of the eighth and then won it in the ninth.

The loss eliminated Great Falls from the playoffs.

SOFTBALL

Nation Ford 6, Westside 0

Nation Ford defeated Westside 6-0 in an elimination game in the District II Class 4A softball playoffs Monday night in Anderson.

Ashton Irvin pitched a complete game to pick up the win. She scattered three hits and struck out nine.

Nation Ford travels to Greenville on Wednesday to play J.L. Mann for the district championship.

Boiling Springs 1, Fort Mill 0

Boiling Springs scored the only run of the game in the ninth inning and edged Fort Mill 1-0 in the second round of the District I softball playoffs Monday night in Fort Mill.

Fort Mill will host Dutch Fork on Tuesday in an elimination game.

Lancaster 7, Blue Ridge 4

Lancaster defeated top-seeded Blue Ridge 7-4 in the second round of the District II Class 3A softball playoffs Monday night at Blue Ridge.

With the win, Lancaster advanced to the district championship game on Friday in Lancaster.

Camden 3, Chester 2

Camden edged Chester 3-2 in the second round of the District I Class 3A softball playoffs Monday night in Camden.

The loss eliminates Chester from the playoffs.

BASEBALL

Lewisville 10, Fox Creek 3

The Lewisville Lions collected 15 hits and toppled top-seeded Fox Creek 10-3 in the second round of the District I Class A playoffs at Fox Creek on Saturday.

Trey Keels pitched the first four innings and picked up the win to improve to 5-3 on the year. Drew Colvin tossed the last three frames. They struck out 10 batters between them.

Alex Reed and Keels led Lewisville offensively with three hits and three runs batted in each. Drew Stewart and Denver Moseley each added a pair of hits and an RBI to the winning effort. Quenton Sanders had a two-run home run for the Lions.

Lewisville improved to 16-6 overall with the win. The Lions will play the winner of the Fox Creek-Spartanburg Christian game on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Richburg for the district championship.

The Lewisville Lions pounded out 15 hits and defeated Whitmire 13-3 in the second round of the District III Class A softball playoffs at Richburg.

Tori Fernandez pitched a complete game to pick up the win. She improved to 6-1 on the year.

Lewisville is now 20-4 on the year. The Lions will play the winner of the Whitmire-Greenville Tech game on Wednesday in Richburg for the championship.
