Lancaster T-8th in 3A state golf tourney
The Lancaster Bruins turned in a two-day total of 638 and finished tied for eighth in the Class 3A state golf tournament earlier this week.
The Bruins shot 321 on the first day and followed that with a 317 for a 36-hole score of 638.
The South Pointe Stallions finished 16th with a 36-hole total of 690. The Stallions had a 343 in the opening round and followed it with a 347 on the second day of play.
A.C. Flora of Columbia won the tournament with a two-day total of 599. Eastside of Greenville was second at 610.
Brady Hinkle led Lancaster with a two-day total of 150, placing him in a ninth-place tie overall. He had rounds of 76 and 74.
Nick Mangano was next with a 36-hole score of 157. He carded rounds of 77 and 80. Mason Tucker (84-85–169), Baylee Evans (92-78–170), and Trey Crenshaw (84-89–173) completed the scoring for Lancaster.
Wyatt Reid led South Pointe with a two-day total of 165. He had an 81 the first day and turned in an 84 in the second round. Jacob Spooner was next for the Stallions with a 36-hole total of 169. He had rounds of 81 and 88.
Bryan Edwards (91-85–176), Benny Smith (94-90–184) and Chandler Thomas (90-95–185) completed the scoring for the Stallions.
Clover’s White 40th at 4A state golf tourney
Andrew White of Clover qualified for the Class 4A state golf tournament as an individual and turned in a three-day total of 245.
He shot an 84 in the opening round, followed by an 80 in Round 2 and 81 in the final round.
Jordan Warnock of Dorman won the individual title with a 54-hole score of 207.
2 from area compete in state tennis tourney
Justin White of Clover and Apoorva Mehta of Fort Mill High competed in the Class 4A individual state tennis championship this week.
White lost in the opening round to Brendon Healey of James Island, 6-3, 6-4. That dropped him to the consolation bracket, where he beat Andrew Halus of West Florence, 8-3. White was eliminated in the next round with an 8-3 loss to Jason Flowers of Chapin.
Mehta dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Tate Steinour of Hilton Head in the first round. He was eliminated in the consolation bracket with an 8-5 loss to Jordan Crooks of Easley.
