Top-10 performances by local college football players: Mason Rudolph leads Oklahoma State to comeback win

Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State- Rudolph threw three touchdown passes in the last 16 1/2 minutes of the game to help the Cowboys overturn a 17-point deficit and beat Iowa State 38-31. The former Northwestern Shrine Bowler completed 26-of-44 passes for 351 yards and four touchdowns. Rudolph racked up more than 300 yards for the third time in the last four games; he’s got 13 touchdown passes this season, with just two interceptions.

Dijuan Ussery, Missouri Western- former Nation Ford receiver made three grabs for 90 yards and a touchdown during his team’s 37-29 win over Lindenwood (Mo.). Ussery hauled in a 67-yard scoring pass early in the second quarter, his third touchdown catch this season. The senior is averaging 24.1 yards per catch, among the 10 best in NCAA Division II.

Rondreas Truesdale, Newberry- Indian Land product carried the ball 10 times for 82 yards and a touchdown during Newberry’s 35-21 win over Mars Hill Saturday. Truesdale’s third quarter 22-yard touchdown scamper helped the Wolves pull away for the win. He also returned a pair of kickoffs for 24 yards.

Tony Godbolt, North Greenville- The Fort Mill safety product made 11 tackles and recovered a fumble in the Crusaders’ 38-14 loss to The Citadel.

Andre Foulks, Wingate- York’s Foulks was a disruptive presence during Wingate’s 19-0 shutout of Tusculum. The senior defensive lineman made six tackles, a half tackle-for-loss and recorded five QB hurries.

Terrance Morris, Wofford- Chester’s Morris had his best game since returning from an ACL injury that ruled him out all of last season. The Terriers beat Furman 31-19 and the junior linebacker recorded four tackles and a sack off the bench.

Randall Dixon, Chowan- the Braves fell behind 21-0 to Bowie State (Md.), and fell 21-14 despite Dixon’s two touchdown passes. The former Rock Hill Bearcat was 12-for-27 passing for 195 yards and two TDs.

Ty Currence, Limestone- redshirt junior linebacker from York made three tackles and his first career interception as the Saints held off Catawba 6-0 Saturday. Currence picked off a pass in the third quarter of a defensive struggle.

Worth Gregory, East Carolina- Fort Mill’s Gregory hit three punts for a 47-yard average with a long of 61 and one downed inside the 20-yard line, but the Pirates dropped their fourth straight game, losing to South Florida 38-22.

Shea Rodgers, Newberry- The kicker from Indian Land made all five extra points and hit two of his six kickoffs for touchbacks during the Wolves’ 35-21 win over Mars Hill.

Other locals’ performances

Russell Hubbs, The Citadel- former Northwestern Trojan made a tackle and a half tackle-for-loss during the Bulldogs’ 38-14 win over North Greenville.

J.T. Boyd, East Carolina- The Nation Ford grad started a sixth straight game at center after moving over from guard in the summer, but couldn’t prevent the Pirates from falling to South Florida.

Chris Bouyer, East Tennessee- The Bucs fell to VMI 37-7, with Bouyer, the former Northwestern Trojan, making four tackles from his interior defensive line position.

Andrew Komornik, Gardner-Webb- The big Nation Ford punter hit six kicks during Gardner-Webb’s 24-3 Big South-opening win over Presbyterian. He averaged 42.3 yards per boot, with two touchbacks and one downed inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

Montay Crockett, Georgia Southern- South Pointe’s Crockett made three catches for 32 yards but the Eagles fell to Arkansas State last Wednesday, 27-26.

Brandon Plyler, Concord (W.Va.)- Plyler made three catches for 40 yards but the Mountain Lions fell to Virginia-Wise 30-19.

Chris Norman, Concord (W.Va.)- Chris Norman started at right tackle for Mountain Lions against Virginia-Wise, the junior from Fort Mill’s sixth start this season.

Markell Castle, Newberry- York grad made four catches for 33 yards against Mars Hill. Castle has a team-high 38 catches in six games.

Darryl Foster, Newberry- Chester’s Foster made one tackle in the Wolves’ win over Mars Hill, their fifth straight victory.

Shaheem Sanders, Mesabi Range (Minn.)- South Pointe grad made one catch for three yards during the Norse’s 28-16 loss to Rochester (Minn.). Fellow former Stallion Lorenzo Wells had one catch for no gain during the same game.
