Rock Hill-South Pointe football game postponed to Sept. 2
For the second year in a row, Rock Hill and South Pointe will play their varsity high school football rivalry on a Saturday.
Rock Hill athletic director Bill Warren announced the decision in a Wednesday morning email. Remnants from Hurricane Harvey will reach the Carolinas by Thursday, causing a very wet end of the week in the area. The Stallions and Bearcats will kick off at 11 a.m. at District Three Stadium.
Last year’s game was also moved to a Saturday due to Hurricane Hermine.
Chester County schools jumped at the chance to play their games on Wednesday before the rain arrives, a decision approved by the South Carolina High School League Tuesday. Chester hosts Keenan and Lewisville travels to Buford. Both of those games kickoff at 7 p.m., while Great Falls hosts Blackville-Hilda at 7:30 p.m.
York’s game at Union County has also been moved, from Friday to Thursday. Kickoff for that game is 7 p.m.
