Football state rankings: Byrnes’ win over Northwestern vaults Rebels into No. 2 in 5A
Byrnes jumped Dutch Fork into second place in the 5A state rankings released Tuesday, Sept. 12.
The Rebels’ dominant win over Northwestern was enough to push Reggie Shaw’s team into the position behind unanimous No. 1 Fort Dorchester.
Highlights from Byrnes’ win over Northwestern:
South Pointe enjoyed a bye week last Friday and heads into its inter-state showdown with Georgia’s Buford High School as 4A’s unanimous No. 1 team. The Stallions have scored 137 points and allowed just two touchdowns in three games.
Chester and Lewisville are the other locally-ranked teams. Chester checks in at No. 8 in 3A, while Lewisville is No. 4 in 1A, surpassed by Hemingway, which has several impressive wins on its resume already.
