Tri-County players of the week: South Pointe rewarded for huge win over Buford

4A, 5A schools

Offensive player of the week: Derion Kendrick, South Pointe - senior QB carried the ball 17 times for 211 yards and two touchdowns against Buford. Kendrick also completed 8-of-20 throws for 133 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Nominated: Tanner McKinney, York; Caleb Starnes, Nation Ford.

Defensive player: Tajh Reid-Stanley, York - senior defensive back made nine tackles, with two for a loss, broke up a pass and made a key third down stop against Fort Mill.

Nominated: Michael Peterson, Nation Ford.

Offensive lineman: Jackson Chappell, South Pointe - Chappell graded out 95 percent with three big-time blocks, two pancakes and no sacks allowed against Buford.

Nominated: Ashton Shannon, York.

Defensive lineman: Eli Adams, South Pointe - senior defensive end had a monster game, notching 14 tackles, four sacks, four tackles-for-loss and four QB pressures against Buford.

Nominated: Immanuel Bush, Lancaster.

Special teams: Skyler DeLong, Nation Ford - senior punter hit five kicks for a 45.8-yard average, with each punt landing inside the 20-yard line and three landing inside the 10.

1A, 2A, 3A schools

Offensive player of the week: John Erby, Chester - senior QB completed 10-of-15 passes for 181 yards and four touchdowns, and ran for 60 yards and another score against Lower Richland.

Nominated: Rhett Cox, Lewisville; Lamont Nelson, Andrew Jackson.

Defensive player: Dorrien Bagley, Chester - Bagley made 14 tackles, with one for a loss, and broke up two passes during the Cyclones’ win over Lower Richland.

Nominated: Mikial Fourney, Lewisville; Isaiah Parker, Andrew Jackson.

Offensive lineman: Qay Simpson, Lewisville - senior graded 88 percent with 16 highlight blocks and two knockouts during the Lions’ win over Eau Claire.

Nominated: N/A

Defensive lineman: Josh Belk, Lewisville - Belk turned in another dominant performance, recording 10 tackles, four tackles-for-loss and three sacks against Eau Claire.

Special teams: Tyrus McCullough, Lewisville - McCullough made three tackles on kickoff coverage and blocked a punt that led to a Lewisville touchdown last Friday.

Nominated: John Erby, Chester; Brandon Dickerson, Indian Land.
