Chester scores 43 in 1st half en route to 5th win
The Chester Cyclones scored 20 points in the first period and never looked back as the Cyclones routed Carolina Pride 50-0 in a non-region win at Chester Friday night.
Chester added 23 more points in the second period for a 43-0 lead at halftime.
Chester is 5-1. Carolina Pride is 3-3.
Chester opens Region 4-3A play next week against Indian Land.
Lancaster 27, Lugoff-Elgin 24
The Lancaster Bruins edged the Lugoff-Elgin Demons 27-24 in a non-region game at Lugoff Friday.
Lancaster took a 3-0 lead after one period and upped the count to 10-0 in the second quarter, before Lugoff-Elgin scored just before the half to cut the deficit to 10-7.
The Demons took a 14-10 lead early in the third period, but Lancaster regained the lead at 17-14. Lugoff-Elgin tied it at 17, before the Bruins scored again for a 24-17 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Lancaster added a field goal for a 27-17 lead, before the Demons scored a touchdown to make it 27-24.
Both teams are now 2-3 on the season.
The Bruins start their Region 3-4A campaign next week at home against Westwood.
Lewisville 42, C.A. Johnson 14
The Lewisville Lions defeated the C.A. Johnson Hornets 42-14 in a non-region game in Columbia Friday.
The Lions raced to a 14-0 lead after one period and added two more scores in the second quarter for a 28-0 cushion, before the Hornets countered with a touchdown to make it 28-8. The teams traded scores in the final six minutes of the half and Lewisville was in front 36-14 at intermission.
The Lions added one score after halftime.
Lewisville is 5-1 overall. C.A. Johnson is 1-4.
The Lions host McBee next week in their Region 2-A opener.
North Central 47, Great Falls 0
The North Central Knights scored in each period and routed the Great Falls Red Devils 47-0 in a non-region game at Great Falls Friday.
North Central took a 6-0 lead after one quarter and added two more touchdowns in the second period to make it 20-0 at halftime.
The Knights added two touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters.
Great Falls is 0-4. North Central is 2-3.
Great Falls hits the road next week to open Region 2-A play against Timmonsville.
