The Herald’s Oct. 22 scoreboard: Rock Hill falls, York rolls, Great Falls wins in OT, more

FRIDAY NIGHT SCORES FROM ROCK HILL, FORT MILL, YORK

Games kick off at 7:30 p.m.

Gaffney 21, Clover 3

Catawba Ridge 16, Indian Land 13, (OT)

Ridge View 27, Rock Hill 6

The Ridge View Blazers defeated the Rock Hill Bearcats 27-6 in a Region 4-5A game at Ridge View.

After a scoreless first quarter, Rock Hill got a 35-yard field goal from Mateo Moyon for a 3-0 lead. Ridge View countered with two scores for a 14-3 lead at intermission.

Joshua Holmes got the first one on a six-yard run. Andre Washington passed to Chase Smith on an 11-yard play for the second one just before the half.

The ’Cats opened the scoring in the third period with another Moyon field goal to cut the deficit to 14-6.

Ridge View countered. Washington hooked up with Smith on a 10-yard play for a 20-6 advantage. Washington capped the scoring with an eight-yard run in the fourth period.

Ridge View improved to 1-2 in the region and 3-4 overall. Rock Hill fell to 1-2 in region play and 2-5 in all games.

Boiling Springs 36, Fort Mill 22

The Boiling Springs Bulldogs defeated the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets 36-22 in a Region 3-5A game at Fort Mill.

The Bulldogs led 22-3 at halftime. The teams traded scores in the third period and it was 29-9 when it was over. Fort Mill added two scores in the final period, while Boiling Springs had one.

Boiling Springs improved to 1-3 in the region and 1-8 in all games. The Yellow Jackets fell to 0-3 in the region play and 1-7 overall.

Chesterfield 27, Andrew Jackson 20

The Chesterfield Rams nipped the Andrew Jackson Volunteers 27-20 in a Region 4-2A game at Chesterfield.

The game was tied 13-13 at halftime and knotted at 20-20 after three periods.

The Rams scored late in the final period to earn the win.

Chesterfield improved to 4-0 in the region and 6-1 overall. Andrew Jackson dropped to 3-1 in region action and 6-3 overall.

York 34, Lancaster 6

The York Cougars broke open a close game in the second half and defeated the Lancaster Bruins 34-6 in a Region 3-4A game at York.

The Cougars led 14-0 at halftime, but they outscored the Bruins 20-6 in the second half to secure the win.

York improved to 3-0 in the region and 6-1 overall. Lancaster dropped to 0-3 in the region and 2-4 in all games.

Chester 21, Mid-Carolina 14

The Chester Cyclones took a 13-0 lead at halftime and defeated the Mid-Carolina Rebels 21-14 in a Region 4-3A game at Prosperity.

The Cyclones added to their halftime lead with a third quarter touchdown for a 21-0 advantage. They held off a Mid-Carolina rally in the final period to earn the win.

Chester finished the regular season in second place in the region with a mark of 3-1 and an overall record of 6-3.

Legion Collegiate 24, Landrum 21

The Legion Collegiate Lancers took a 14-7 lead at halftime and edged the Landrum Cardinals 24-21 in a non-region game at Landrum.

Legion Collegiate improved to 2-4 overall, while Landrum dropped to 4-4 in all games.

Great Falls 24, Hickory 18 (OT)

The Great Falls Red Devils celebrated homecoming with a 24-18 overtime win over the Hickory Hawks in a non-region game.

Xavier Brown got the first score for Great Falls, but Hickory countered for a 6-6 tie after one period. Foxx Moore’s touchdown gave the Red Devils a 12-6 lead, but the Hawks countered with two scores for a 18-12 lead at the half.

Brown passed to Will Manning to tie the score at 18-18 when the third period was over. After a scoreless fourth quarter, the game went to overtime.

After the Red Devils stopped Hickory on their possession, Brown passed to Moore for the winning score.

The Red Devils improved to 6-3 overall, while Hickory dropped to 3-6 in all games.

CA Johnson 38, Lewisville 7

The CA Johnson Hornets defeated the Lewisville Lions 38-7 in a Region 2-1A game at CA Johnson.

The Hornets improved to 2-1 in the region and 4-3 in all games. The Lions dropped to 0-4 in region play and 3-6 overall.
