Friday night high school football results from around the region.
▪ Clover 26, Boiling Springs 0
The Clover Blue Eagles toppled Boiling Springs 26-0 in a non-region game at Clover Friday night.
Clover scored early with the Blue Eagles defense doing the honors. Nashon Suchanek intercepted a Boiling Springs screen pass on the third play of the game and returned it four yards for a score and a 7-0 lead.
Both teams played superb defense for the next two quarters, and the Blue Eagles took that 7-0 lead to the final period. Clover’s defense dominated all night. Boiling Springs did not get a first down or cross midfield until the third quarter.
Clover made it 14-0 with 10:26 to play in the game when Jaylon Hoover passed to Hunter Jaime for a touchdown. Maddox added a 25-yard field goal midway through the final quarter, and the Blue Eagles were up 17-0.
After the Blue Eagles added a safety for a 19-0 advantage, DeMarco Evans completed the scoring with a 28-yard touchdown run with 1:36 remaining in the game.
The Blue Eagles improved to 2-3 on the year with the victory.
▪ Nation Ford 33, Richland Northeast 20
The Nation Ford Falcons defeated Richland Northeast 33-20 in a non-region game at Nation Ford Friday night.
After a scoreless first quarter, Richland Northeast took a 6-0 lead. Nation Ford answered on a Carson Black touchdown pass for a 7-6 advantage. RNE came back with a score for a 12-7 lead, but Black passed for another score to give the Falcons a 14-12 lead at intermission.
The teams traded touchdowns in the third period. Ajhon McCullum got the Falcons’ touchdown on a one-yard run and Nation Ford took a 21-20 lead to the final stanza.
The Falcons completed the scoring with a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Jeremiah Hailstock got the first touchdown on an 8-yard run, and McCullum completed the scoring with a 6-yard run.
Nation Ford improved to 1-4 on the year with the victory.
▪ White Knoll 48, Lancaster 7
White Knoll scored in every quarter and toppled the Lancaster Bruins 48-7 in a non-region game in Lexington Friday night.
White Knoll, the eighth-ranked team in 5A, led 21-0 after one quarter. The teams traded scores in the second period, and White Knoll was in front 28-7 at halftime.
White Knoll added three more touchdowns in the second half to complete the scoring.
The loss dropped the Bruins to 3-2 on the year.
▪ Chester 42, Batesburg-Leesville 6
The Chester Cyclones took a 21-0 lead at halftime and routed Batesburg-Leesville 42-6 in a non-region game at Chester Friday night.
Chester led 14-0 after one period and added a touchdown in the second quarter. Two more scores in the third period gave the Cycs a 35-0 advantage when it was in the books. The teams traded touchdown in the final 12 minutes.
The Cyclones improved to 3-3 on the year with the victory.
▪ Andrew Jackson 28, Lewisville 20
The Andrew Jackson Volunteers edged the Lewisville Lions 28-20 in a non-region game in Richburg Friday night.
Andrew Jackson broke a 7-7 tie after one period and took a 14-7 lead at halftime. Lewisville responded with a pair of scores for a 20-14 advantage after three periods.
The Volunteers answered with 14 points in the final quarter to pick up the win.
Andrew Jackson improved to 3-2 on the year, while Lewisville fell to 5-1.
▪ Buford 23, Cross 14
The Buford Yellow Jackets came from behind in the second half and topped Cross 23-14 in a non-region game at Cross Friday night.
Cross took an 8-7 lead after one period. They added another score for a 14-7 cushion at halftime.
Buford countered with a score in the third period to cut the deficit to 14-13 when it was completed. The Jackets took a 16-14 lead with a field goal early in the final period. They tacked on a touchdown in the final minutes to seal the victory.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 5-0 with the win.
▪ Great Falls 22, New Hope 20
The Great Falls Red Devils celebrated homecoming with a 22-20 win over New Hope in a non-region game at Great Falls Friday night.
Rico McCullough’s 6-yard touchdown pass reception gave Great Falls an early 8-0 lead after Jaylon Sanders tacked on the two-point conversion. After New Hope scored to cut it to 8-6, Sanders scored on a 10-yard run to give the Red Devils a 14-6 lead. New Hope responded with a touchdown to slice the deficit to 14-12 at halftime..
Great Falls added a safety and a touchdown to make it 22-12 when the third period was over. New Hope completed the scoring with a touchdown with less than three minutes remaining in the game.
The Red Devils improved to 2-4 on the year with the win.
▪ Legion Collegiate 38, Trinity Collegiate 22
The Legion Collegiate Lancers scored in every quarter and topped Trinity Collegiate 38-22 in a non-region game in Darlington Friday night.
The Lancers led 6-0 after one period and upped the count to 20-0 at halftime.
Trinity Collegiate cut the deficit to 26-13 after three periods, but the Lancers pulled away in the final 12 minutes.
Legion Collegiate improved to 2-4 on the year with the victory.
