Prep football schedule: Who’s playing this week in the Rock Hill region

Another week of region football this week as teams look to establish positions for a playoff berth.

Some schools are well on their way to becoming region champions, while other programs are just looking for that single region win that could put them in the playoffs.

All games are scheduled to kickoff Friday at 7:30 p.m unless specified otherwise.

Northwestern (6-1) at York (6-1)

This is a huge game between two undefeated teams in Region 3-4A. The winner of this game would hold the tiebreaker, while the loser would need a lot to fall their way for a chance to take the region. Northwestern is coming off a 45-14 win over Indian Land, while York is coming off a 39-20 victory over Catawba Ridge.

Emerald (0-7) at Chester (7-1)

Chester’s run to its first region championship since the title-winning 2018 season continues against an Emerald team coming off a close 36-35 loss to Woodruff last week. Chester has won its first two region games by a combined score of 104-6, including last week’s 60-point shutout over Union County. A win here sets up the Cyclones for a winner-takes-region game next week.

Central (2-5) at Andrew Jackson (4-3)

Andrew Jackson’s run at another region title continues following last week’s 56-point shutout over Chesterfield. Central comes into the game following a 63-13 loss to Cheraw. A win here sets up a winner-takes-region game next week.

Buford (1-6) at Chesterfield (1-6)

Buford looks to get things back on track following a 40-15 loss to North Central last week. The Yellow Jackets take on a Chesterfield team that is currently on a six-game losing streak. Buford had a three-game losing streak snapped with a dominant win earlier in the year.

Lewisville at Great Falls

This game has been cancelled due to injuries on the Great Falls roster that causes major concerns about the health and safety of the other Red Devils players. Lewisville is looking for another opponent, while Great Falls has not made a decision about its season finale at McBee.
