A Christmas Day tradition: Meet the 2023 All-Observer high school football team

Providence Day quarterback Jadyn Davis and West Charlotte linebacker Jaden Smith headline the 2023 All-Observer high school football team.

The Observer has named All-Observer football teams on Christmas Day since 1997 after previously naming the top players in Mecklenburg County along with non-Mecklenburg regional teams.

Davis and Smith both signed with the University of Michigan last week.

Davis was named Mr. Football for the second straight season after throwing for 3,370 yards, 43 touchdowns and leading the Chargers to a third straight state championship. He is The Observer’s offensive player of the year.

Smith had 91 tackles, 25 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks plus three blocked punts and two blocked field goals. He is The Observer’s defensive player of the year.
