High school football roundup: Westwood drops Clover with first quarter blitz

Westwood 42, Clover 14

Westwood blitzed Clover with 28 first quarter points on the way to a home win over the Blue Eagles (1-2). Chad Smith’s team dominated possession of the football, running 19 more plays and holding the ball 11 more minutes than the Redhawks, but couldn’t overcome three turnovers and 5-of-15 third down conversions in the loss. Senior captain Tenchi Her was a bright spot for the Blue Eagles, rushing the ball eight times for 61 yards and a touchdown. Clover hits the road again next week to take on White Knoll.
