Demontre Buckson, Northwestern Senior center was solid in Northwestern’s overtime win against South Pointe, grading out at 90 percent with three pancake blocks, while helping the Trojans amass just shy of 500 yards of offense. Nicknamed “Buck,” Buckson stands 5-foot-10, 258 pounds and will likely play every down for the Trojans this fall as long as he’s healthy. That experience was crucial for Northwestern against South Pointe because the Trojans were down three offensive line starters. Buckson helped keep everything together in a huge win.

Jaylen McFadden, Lewisville Part of Lewisville’s talented sophomore class, McFadden graded out at 90 percent in the Lions’ 12-8 win over North Central. McFadden (5-foot-10, 210 pounds) added four knockdown blocks, and according to coach Will Mitchell, is one of the team’s smartest football players. That makes sense considering his dad, Mike McFadden, played on Lewisville’s 1986 and 1987 state title teams, the former coached by Jimmy Wallace.
