Chesterfield Rams’ huge 2nd period nabs win

Chesterfield 61, Indian Land 30

The Chesterfield Rams exploded for 35 points in the second period and went on to defeat the Indian Land Warriors 61-30 in a Region 4-2A contest at Chesterfield.

The Rams led 13-7 after one period, but the second period gave them a 48-14 lead at halftime.

Indian Land outscored the Rams 16-13 in the second half, but the damage had already been done.

The win improved Chesterfield to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the region. The loss dropped the Warriors to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in region play.

Wagener-Salley 36, Great Falls 20

The Wagener-Salley War Eagles scored on the first play of the game and survived a Great Falls rally in the second half to topple the Red Devils 36-20 in a non-region contest at Pride Valley.

Wagener-Salley led 14-0 after one period. Neither team was able to score in the second quarter.

The Red Devils got a seven-yard touchdown run from DeAndre Perry to cut the deficit to 14-7 with just less than five minutes remaining in the third quarter.

After the War Eagles scored late in the third period for a 22-7 lead, Great Falls scored to cut the deficit to 22-14. Conner Henson passed to Rajean Perry on a 44-yard play that accounted for the touchdown with just more than 10 minutes remaining in the contest.

Wagener-Salley pulled away down the stretch to improve to 2-3 overall. The loss dropped Great Falls to 0-5.

Lancaster 42, Lewisville 14

The Lancaster Bruins used another strong ground game and a solid defensive effort to topple the Lewisville Lions 42-14 in a non-region game at Lancaster.

The Bruins led only 15-0 at intermission, and they scored 14 points in the third period for a 29-0 cushion. The teams traded a pair of touchdowns in the final quarter.

The win improved the ninth-ranked Bruins to 5-0 on the year, while the Lions fell to 1-5.
