Tickets for Friday’s Northwestern-South Pointe high school football season opener at District Three Stadium are on sale at both schools this week.
At South Pointe, tickets will be available starting Tuesday at the school’s athletic office. They cost $7 for adults and $3 for students, and will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday.
Northwestern fans can get tickets Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the school’s athletic department for the same price. They’ll also be available on Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., as well as at the stadium gates, which open at 6 p.m. Friday night.
Visit The Herald’s Facebook page Thursday night at 7 p.m. for a high school football chat with Bret McCormick.
Friday’s matchup should be a dandy. Both schools are coming off state championship seasons and the Trojans are ranked nationally in preseason polls. The last two Northwestern-South Pointe tilts have been decided by a failed 2-point conversion, in the Trojans’ favor both times.
With a big crowd expected, Northwestern athletic director Lauren West encourages fans to purchase tickets in advance and avoid waiting in long lines at the stadium. Fans attending Friday night’s contest also need to be cognizant of the heat - it’s supposed to be 89 degrees with considerable humidity - and to remember backpacks are not allowed in the stadium.
