Nunez pitches gem in Knights' win

FORT MILL -- Knights pitcher Vladimir Nunez had one of his best outings of the season as Charlotte topped the Rochester Red Wings 5-2.

After struggling for most of the season, Nunez pitched like a guy who had spent the majority of his career at the major league level. The right hander allowed one run off two hits to improve to 2-9 with a 6.04 ERA.

Second baseman Danny Richar continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. Richar is now hitting .417 with the Knights since being acquired last week.

The Knights lead 4-1 when they went to the bullpen. Carlos Vasquez earned his 5th hold and Ehren Wassermann got his 3rd save.

Vazquez did the majority of the work going 2 2-3 innings and giving up just one run.

Prior to the game, the Knights signed Charlotte native and former Myers Park High School standout Jake Robbins. Robbins spent last season in the Cincinnati Reds organization with Louisville. The Knights also optioned infielder Kenny Perez to Double-A Birmingham
