Knights fall to Richmond despite late rally
FORT MILL -- The Charlotte Knights just could not get it going on a hot August night, losing 7-2 to Richmond.
The Braves shut down the Knights, giving up one hit going into the ninth inning. In the 9th, trailing 7-0, Charlotte's Casey Rogowski, Thomas Collaro and Adam Ricks tried for a late comeback, but fell short by five runs. Ricks brought in the only two runs for the Knights with a double.
The Knights and Braves will continue their four game series at Knights Stadium tonight at 7:15, with Heath Phillips (10-7, 4.53 ERA) getting the start for Charlotte and Dan Smith (3-3, 4.84 ERA) taking the mound for Richmond.
