Knights outlast Hens

FORT MILL -- Charlotte used a four-run barrage in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 4-4 tie and then held off Toledo in a 10-6 victory over the Mud Hens on Sunday.

Knights outfielder Dewayne Wise went 3-for-4 on the day with two home runs, giving him seven on the season. Chris Getz, Brad Eldred and Jeff Liefer added home runs, as well. Charlotte is second in the International League in home runs with 36 home runs on the season.

Adam Russell (2-0) picked up his second win of the season coming in relief for starter Wes Whisler. Anastacio Martinez (0-1) suffered his first loss of the season.

The Knights and Mud Hens conclude their series tonight at 7:15. Tomo Ohka (0-6, 6.03) will start for Charlotte, while Detroit Tigers pitcher Dontrelle Willis is scheduled to have a rehab start for Toledo and take the mound for the Mud Hens.
