Was LaMelo Ball issued a ticket after uptown crash? CMPD’s response.

Police won’t say if Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball or another driver involved in a crash Wednesday afternoon were issued tickets.

Video published by WSOC showed the collision at South Tryon Street and West Trade street in uptown Charlotte, as well as Ball getting out of his vehicle and into another.

The Charlotte Observer confirmed that Ball got into teammate Brandon Miller’s vehicle after the crash, and that team security was also on the scene.

Ball wasn’t injured in the crash, in which he was driving a camouflage Hummer. MEDIC reported treating one person.

The Hornets have declined to comment on the crash. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have declined to release any information on what police believe caused the collision.

Previously accused of running over boy’s foot

Ball was accused in a civil lawsuit of running over a 12-year-old boy’s foot in October 2023 near the Spectrum Center. A lawsuit filed in Mecklenburg County accused Ball of running over the boy’s foot after the boy approached him to ask for his autograph.

A lawyer for the boy’s family filed a court document on Wednesday asking for more time to schedule a mediation session in the case.
