Local NFL players roundup: Patterson scores against Texans
Former Northwestern High School standout Cordarrelle Patterson had another outstanding game on Sunday as the Minnesota Vikings remained undefeated with a 31-13 win over the Houston Texans in Minneapolis.
Patterson played 45 plays on offense and two more on special teams. On offense, he had four pass receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown. The scoring catch was for nine yards and gave the Vikings a 31-9 lead early in the fourth quarter. It was his first scoring catch since October 19, 2014, when he hauled in a touchdown pass against the Buffalo Bills. However, his longest catch on Sunday was for 15 yards. In addition he rushed once for seven yards.
On special teams he had one kickoff return for 17 yards and also made one tackle.
Stephon Gilmore, Buffalo Bills: The former South Pointe star played on 66 defensive plays. He was also in for four special teams plays as the Bills topped the Los Angeles Rams 30-19.
Gilmore had four tackles all of which were solo tackles.
Jonathan Meeks, Buffalo Bills: The Rock Hill High grad played on 22 defensive snaps and one on special teams in the Bills’ 30-19 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
Jadeveon Clowney, Houston Texans: The South Pointe standout played on 52 defensive snaps and eight special teams plays in the Texans 31-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Clowney recorded eight tackles with seven of them being solo tackles. Included in the total were four tackles for loss.
Johnathan Joseph, Houston Texans: The former Northwestern star was on the field for 23 defensive plays as the Texans lost to the Minnesota Vikings.
He had four tackles with three of them being solo tackles.
