Where to find Carolina Panthers NFC championship gear in Rock Hill
With the Carolina Panthers' win in the NFC championship Sunday, Academy Sports + Outdoors in Rock Hill will be open late Sunday to sell the same t-shirts and ball caps worn by the celebrating players.
The Panthers trounced the Arizona Cardinals 49-15 in the NFC Championship game to advance to the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos.
Academy Sports plans to be open as long as there is fan demand, Trey Hewitt, store director, said Saturday – even it if that means staying open past midnight.
Academy Sports is the official sporting goods retailer for the Carolina Panthers.
Hewitt said sales of Panthers merchandise has been strong all season. The top selling jerseys locally mirror the national trend and quarterback Cam Newton followed by linebacker Luke Kuechly are the top sellers. Hewitt said there has even been demand for Kelvin Benjamin jerseys. The wide receiver suffered a season-ending injury during training camp.
Academy Sports will also have full selection of Panthers gear for the family. Hewitt said jersey fitted for women have been in demand.
Academy Sports regularly closes at 10 p.m. Sunday. If the game ends before 10 p.m. the store will continue to stay open, Hewitt said. If the game ends after 10 p.m. the store may close briefly and then reopen for accounting purposes, he said.
Other stores in the area that are NFL licensed dealers include Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Harris Teeter, the official grocery sponsor of the Carolina Panthers, will have championship T-shirts for sale beginning Tuesday if the Panthers win.
