Piedmont Medical Center names new CEO
Piedmont Medical Center has named Bradley S. Talbert as the hospital’s new chief executive officer, succeeding Bill Masterton, who took a job at a teaching hospital in Louisiana.
Talbert will be responsible for overseeing all areas of operations at the Rock Hill hospital. He will report to Garry Gause, CEO of Tenet Healthcare’s Southern Region, effective Monday.
Talbert comes from another Tenet hospital, Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville.
Talbert, 38, who grew up in Spartanburg and still has family there, said he was attracted to the job to work “with a very dynamic organization in such a wonderful community. It was really, in essence, a no-brainer for me.”
Talbert said he looks forward to building on the momentum of recent PMC improvements that include an emergency room exapnsion and a new imaging center in western York County.
“With me, it really all starts with patient safety and the quality of care we provide, really focusing on the patient experience as a whole,” he said. “That is a key focus of mine, it really has been throughout my career, and I understand how important it is in everything we do.”
Talbert also said he looks forward to working with and giving back to the community, as one of the area’s largest employers, and collaborating with the hospital’s medical staff to provide services.
Gause said Talbert “is a well-respected leader in the company as well as a trusted colleague and friend. I am confident that he will continue the hospital’s reputation as a leading provider of trusted, high-quality care.”
Under Talbert’s leadership, Coastal Carolina Hospital twice received Tenet’s Circle of Excellence Award, the company’s highest recognition for hospitals that have demonstrated exceptional performance in quality, patient satisfaction and operational excellence.
Talbert has more than 15 years of hospital executive leadership and management experience at hospitals in South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee.
Before joining Tenet in 2008, Talbert served as chief executive officer at Kindred Hospital in Charleston and Select Specialty Hospital in Memphis. Talbert was named chief executive officer of Coastal Carolina Hospital in July 2012.
He previously served as market vice president of business development and chief operating officer of Tenet’s Hilton Head Hospital.
Talbert earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Wofford College in Spartanburg and a master’s degree in health administration from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
He and his wife, Jennifer, have two sons, ages 7 and 6.
