Rock Hill’s Food Truck Fridays are back today; here’s what you need to know
Food, brews, live music and a working fountain?
Rock Hill officials say those factors are likely to attract thousands of hungry tourists to Rock Hill over the summer.
Around 5,000 people are expected to flock to Rock Hill’s Fountain Park to celebrate the first of several Food Truck Friday events in 2017.
The city announced the full schedule for this year’s monthly food truck festival, with dates running through November. Close to 30 food trucks will ring the park and live music from bands will play on a stage from 6-10 p.m. on the third Friday of each month, starting this Friday, May 19.
Some food trucks are returning favorites, while some are new additions, with fried chicken, cheese steak, smokehouse barbecue or roast beef options available.
This will be the first year since the festival began in 2015 that visitors will get to enjoy the evening near a working fountain.
Construction crews reopened the fountain last month. It had been the subject of constant repair work since November 2015, when water pipes became clogged, causing the 50,000-gallon fountain to turn muddy.
Cathy Murphy, Rock Hill’s downtown development manager, said she has seen increased interest in the event through social media because of the working fountain.
The weather forecast for Friday calls for clouds and high temperatures of up to 88 degrees. Murphy said she has seen visitors come from as far as the Raleigh area to take part in the Food Truck festivities.
The July event will take place on Saturday, July 22, to coincide with the opening ceremony of the upcoming 2017 BMX World Championships.
