Coroner identifies driver killed in crash near York

A McConnells woman was killed after a single-car crash near York on Monday, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Deborah Boatwright Adkins, 56, died in the crash, York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. on S.C. 324, about four miles south of York, said Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne of the S.C. Highway Patrol, which is still investigating.

A 2003 Honda sedan was traveling south when it left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned, Rhyne said. Adkins was wearing a seat belt but died at the scene.

Toxicology testing was to be conducted Tuesday afternoon, Gast said, but results can take several weeks.
