Fort Mill school board member Pam Martin said she intends to run for a second four-year term.

Martin, first elected in 2012, is one of three Fort Mill school board trustees whose term expires this year. The other two are Tom Audette and Scott Patterson. Neither has said if they intend to file to run for new terms.

Filing opens Monday and closes at noon Aug. 15.

“I’m proud to be associated with the Fort Mill School District because I’ve seen the excellent education my child received,” Martin said.

“I have been an active volunteer in the Fort Mill community as well as the schools for over 20 years, which has included serving on numerous committees that involved working with school administrators, teachers and parents. That experience combined with my knowledge of business and finance along with my listening and communication skills will help me continue to make the right decisions for Fort Mill schools and our children’s future.”

A Fort Mill resident for more than 24 years, Martin and her husband Michael have a son who has been in local schools since age 2 when he was enrolled in the LEAP Ahead program, Martin said. He graduated from Fort Mill High in 2013 and is a rising senior at the University of South Carolina.

According to her resume, Martin earned a BS in finance from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she graduated Cum Laude. She is the co‐founder and president of MartnMedia, LLC., a local Fort Mill multimedia production company that has been in business for almost 14 years.

Prior to winning a school board seat, Martin was a classroom volunteer, served on the Parent Liaison Committee, was Gold Hill Middle School PTA secretary and co‐president and was a member of the School Improvement Council at Gold Hill Elementary, Gold Hill Middle and Fort Mill High schools. She has been involved with the Strategic Planning Committee, which reviews the district’s long term plans, since 2011. For more, go to electpammartin.com.
