2 charged in November Rock Hill killing

RockHill

Police on Wednesday arrested two men in connection with the November shooting death of a Rock Hill man.

Davon Sharif Thompson, 22, and Arquivius Lee McClee, 22, were arrested during a traffic stop on Heckle Boulevard about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Rock Hill police records.

Both men were charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, kidnapping and criminal conspiracy, said Capt. Mark Bollinger, a Rock Hill police spokesman. McClee also was charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Thompson and McClee had been wanted in connection with the Nov. 29 shooting death of Antravious White, 21, at a home on Scoggins Street, Bollinger said. The kidnapping charge is due to one of the victims being held against her will, he said.

“Investigators are continuing to work on this complex homicide case, in which multiple individuals are involved,” Bollinger said. “This case, we believe at this time, stems from a botched armed robbery at the house on Scoggins Street involving two groups of individuals, which resulted in gunfire inside the house.”

It’s unclear exactly how many victims or suspects were involved, he said.

“This case is like a house being built of bricks, and we’re going one brick at a time,” he said. “We’re trying to figure out what the robbery was about. We have an idea, but we’re trying to firm all that up.”

Investigators are still trying to work out details of the case, Bollinger said, and warrants are forthcoming on other suspects.

“The public’s in no danger,” he said. “It was an isolated incident.”
