Indian Land man charged with 17 counts of child porn

An Indian Land man was recently arrested on 17 charges related to child pornography, according to a news release sent Friday by the South Carolina Attorney General's office.

Ray Gene Cook was charged with six counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and 11 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Both are felony offenses punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count.

Authorities say he distributed child pornography via a file-sharing network.

The Lancaster County Sheriff's Department, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, made the arrest.

The bond has been set at $600,000. The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's office. ​
