York Co. man goes back to jail after robbing his grandmother at gunpoint, police say
A man is accused of robbing his grandmother at gunpoint less than 24 hours after being arrested for damaging items in her home, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
Jesse Landon Parkins, 22, is charged with attempted armed robbery, pointing and presenting a firearm and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to jail records. He remained in the Moss Justice Center without bond Thursday.
The 77-year-old victim told deputies Tuesday that she received a call from the York County jail to pick up Parkins because he was being released after his arrest for damaging items at her home in Sharon, according to a sheriff’s report. The victim took Parkins back to her home, where he “became irate over her having him charged.”
Parkins began breaking things in the home and yelling at the victim, deputies said. He retrieved a rifle from a back bedroom and fired a shot into the kitchen floor.
The victim told deputies Parkins then pointed the rifle at her and screamed, “Give me all your money,” the report states. The victim, fearing for her life, gave Parkins cash and the keys to her truck.
According to another report, Parkins destroyed several items in his grandmother’s home because he was angry the victim “would not give him any money to get some food.”
