A cidery that has been a fixture in Charlotte’s Lower South End neighborhood for 10 years is closing up shop there in August, with hopes to find a new home.
Red Clay Ciderworks shared the news via Instagram, saying: “Our building was sold and our lease is up at the end of August. Unfortunately, it will not be financially possible for us to stay in our current location and maintain the entire space.”
The message continued, “We will keep the taproom open as far into August as possible and will announce an official closing date soon. Until that time, please help us celebrate the 10 years we’ve enjoyed in our Lower South End location and help us clear out inventory!
Red Clay Ciderworks later announced it would close Aug. 10.
Owners Jay and Deanna Bradish started Red Clay Ciderworks in 2015, becoming the city’s first cidery. Its lineup of staple and seasonal ciders is made on site, with North Carolina apples, and there’s an on-site kitchen offering bar bites such as flatbreads, pretzels and Cidercheese nachos.
Plans call for Red Clay Ciderworks to move production offsite, so you’ll still be able to find its cider at other establishments and retailers. The team is also searching for a new space to locate a taproom in Charlotte.
“Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support you have given us over the years. As this chapter comes to a close, we look forward to seeing everyone over the next couple weeks,” the Instagram message from the team said.
