Put these 2 weeks on the calendar to sample Rock Hill area’s best culinary creations

Two more reasons to try out area restaurants are nearly here.

Queen’s Feast: Charlotte Restaurant Week begins Friday and runs through July 31. This year, the event includes six York or Lancaster county restaurants. On Aug. 7, YoCo Taste Trail Week begins. Three dozen York County restaurants are signed on to participate.

Both events offer a week of prix fixe menus — multi-course options at a set price. Charlotte Restaurant Week includes three courses at participating restaurants for $30-$45 per person, depending on the restaurant. Queen’s Feast is held for 10 days each January and July. Reservations are recommended.

Area restaurants involved with Queen’s Feast include Fish Market Bar and Grill and Napa at Kingsley in Fort Mill, Old Town Kitchen & Cocktails and The Pump House in Rock Hill, Lily’s Bistro in Lake Wylie and Red Rocks Cafe in Indian Land.

Several of the nearly dozen restaurants new to Charlotte Restaurant Week this year border York and Lancaster counties and are short drives for diners, including Drift on Lake Wylie in Belmont and Juniper Grill in Ballantyne.

Bruce Hensley, partner in Hensley Fontana Public Relations, which owns and operates Queen’s Feast, said in an announcement for this summer’s event restaurants continue to rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic and challenges with staffing, supply issues and food costs. Hensley said it’s still a vital time to support restaurants, but the event has plenty for diners beyond the good deed of helping restaurants.

“Summer’s a perfect time to venture out and explore the strong culinary scene all around us,” Hensley said.

Diners who want to get their fill after Charlotte Restaurant Week can participate in YoCo Taste Trail Week Aug. 7-14. In prior years, the YoCo Taste Trail included stops at York County restaurants to try signature items, with prizes for completing the trail. The coming week is the first of what organizers intend to be an annual event.

Interim president and CEO of Visit York County Andy Clinton said local restaurants are part of what makes York County a great place to visit, love and work — one his group is glad to promote.

“With an influx of new development, visitors and talented chefs, the culinary landscape in York County has emerged as a destination for foodies,” Clinton said. “From classic southern BBQ staples to new, upscale dining experiences, there’s something for every palette.”

Participating restaurants will offer two or more courses as part of the promotion. Prices will be $50 or less. Set menus or discounts will be unique to YoCo Taste Trail Week.

Many of the best known restaurants throughout York County will participate. For more, visit visityorkcounty.com.
