A Rock Hill coffee company is adding another new cafe, drive-thru in York County

Rock Hill’s homegrown coffee business with big growth plans has a new York County location coming.

Knowledge Perk Coffee Company will add a cafe and drive-thru late this year at the 1530 Alexander Hwy., in York. The nearly 6,000-square-foot retail center under construction there will hold White Rose Dentistry and space for two more tenants. A second phase behind the center could add more retail or medical space.

Knowledge Perk is a small-batch roastery focused on sustainable coffees, sourced from farmers in Colombia, Brazil, Tanzania and Guatamala. The company started eight years ago in the Knowledge Park area of Rock Hill.

Four years ago, the company announced plans to expand into Fort Mill. Knowledge Perk announced plans last fall for its first drive-thru spot in Little River, near North Myrtle Beach.

Customers can now order Knowledge Perk from eight locations across the Carolinas. Charlotte, Spartanburg and Myrtle Beach have locations. Columbia has two.

Along with typical coffees, Knowledge Perk locations have seasonal drinks like a tiramisu latte, blueberry muffin macchiato and a chocolate-covered strawberry cold brew. There are pastries, bagel and croissant sandwiches, teas and hot chocolate.

The York location will be the first Knowledge Perk to have both indoor seating and a drive-thru. There’s also a large outdoor patio.

Company CEO and co-owner Ryan Sanderson grew up in York, making the latest expansion a personal move.

“I’ve waited years for the right opportunity to bring Knowledge Perk to York,” he said. “Not just to expand, but to create something the community can truly connect with.”
