Man turns in drugs to York police, suggests they call “Brian”

A good Samaritan wanted to turn in drugs to York police this week. He just didn’t want to answer many questions about where he got them.

A police officer met an anonymous caller in the parking lot of Lowe’s on East Liberty Street around 8 a.m. Wednesday. A man in his late 20s seated in a blue pickup truck handed the officer a plastic bag containing 23 different pills, according to a police report. The man said he found the pills on the ground in the parking lot near a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The driver said he “ran a check on the pills” and determined they were narcotics, so he called police.

When the officer tried to get the man’s personal information, however, the man “seemed to be in a hurry” and only identified himself as “Brian’s neighbor.” The man in the pickup truck also volunteered that he had seen a “muscular individual with tattoos on his arms” come out of the store and load items into the Jeep before “looking around nervously” and going back inside.

When the officer again asked the man for his information, the driver said he would have to “call Brian” and then drove away.

The officer made note of the vehicle’s license plate number in the report. The pills were taken into evidence.
