Bojangles eyes busy Fort Mill spot to open its next restaurant in York County

Bojangles wants to bring its Southern fried chicken and scratch-made biscuits to a busy part of Fort Mill.

Property owner Star Investment Group applied with the town to open a Bojangles at 322 Sutton Road, beside Love’s Travel Stop near Interstate 77.

The town planning commission could decide on the project Tuesday.

The area has grown over the last 10 years with the addition of homes at Masons Bend, creating the need for a roundabout that serves a high-traffic spot between U.S. 21, I-77 and Baxter.

The Charlotte-based fast-food chain would open a more than 1,800-square-foot restaurant, according to the plans with an outdoor dining area. It would be accessible from Sutton but only as a right-turn-in, and from Country Lodge as a full access.

A site plan shows a drive-thru that merges from two lanes to one, once customers get past the order area. The drive-thru starts nearer the Sutton entrance.

Bojangles, founded in 1977 in Charlotte, has about 760 restaurants in 14 states. More than half of them are in North and South Carolina, including 14 in York County.
