Here’s the latest on new home, townhome, annexation and more Rock Hill development

City of Rock Hill

A plan for new homes in Rock Hill nears completion, among several projects underway in Rock Hill.

The city planning commission will meet Tuesday night. Among several items for that group to consider is an approval for almost 200 new residences.

Rock Hill Economic Development and a Summerville-based landowner own property on Sturgis Road, Waterford Park Drive and Dave Lyle Boulevard that’s set to become Bratton Pointe. Mattamy Homes applied with the city for a plat review. The property was rezoned in November.

The undeveloped, wooded site is south of Dave Lyle and north of Sturgis, west of Waterford Park. It’s near the Waterford Terrace apartments, manufacturing sites and homes. Submitted plans call for 193 residential lots on 64 acres. It’s a mix of traditional homes and townhomes.

The project would include a new southbound right turn lane from Waterford Park onto Flatiron Drive, and a dedicated turn lane there where there now is a striped median. The project will add four public streets and seven private alleys. The property comes up against city limits and unincorporated York County lines.

A proposed dog park area is one of several amenities listed in the plan submitted to the city.

Rock Hill annexation

Three other decisions for the planning commission wouldn’t bring new construction, though one would grow the city.

Five Star Holdings wants to annex more than three acres at 244 Mt. Gallant Road, just beside the Manchester Meadows soccer complex at the corner of Mt. Gallant and John Ross Parkway. The property already is developed but would come into the city.

Another decision would approve the name of a new road to serve a more than 1 million-square-foot industrial building set for 1952 Fire Tower Road. The new road off Fire Tower would be called McCraney Way.

Yet another decision would rezone industrial property at White Street and Jones Avenue, across from Grove Park. The 648 E. White St. address already is developed.
