York County’s top hospitality and tourism group takes the interim title off its CEO
Visit York County made it official, tabbing Andy Clinton to lead the organization that brings an array of large events to the area each year.
Clinton grew up in Rock Hill. He started with the tourism and events group in 2012. He was senior vice president of sales when former Visit York County president and CEO Billy Dunlap left in February for a similar role in Greenville, S.C.
Clinton took over as interim president and CEO at Visit York County. Now, he’s interim no more.
“While Andy has always been an integral part of Visit York County, he has proven to be an exemplary leader and the board of commissioners has the utmost confidence in his ability to continue our momentum,” said board chair Brown Simpson in an announcement Wednesday. “Andy brings a wealth of industry experience specific to York County and we are happy to have found the right leadership for the job.”
Clinton developed a new strategic plan for his organization during his interim role. The group continues work on marketing, event recruitment and partnerships to support the hospitality industry. The new YoCo Taste Trail Week, a restaurant week event in August with countywide restaurant specials and specialty menus, is one of many recent efforts.
Visit York County brings large professional, collegiate and youth level sporting events to York County. The group advocates for restaurants and hotels. It promotes the many festivals and attractions in the county.
“York County is home for me and I am honored to lead this organization to promote our unique community as the best place to live, work and visit,” Clinton said.
