One of Chester County’s biggest employers just announced plans for another SC site

A company that employs hundreds in Chester County will add a new South Carolina site.

Boise Cascade Company makes and distributes building materials. The Idaho-based company has more than 50 locations and 6,800 employees nationwide. Its initial South Carolina facility, a regional headquarters site, is in Chester.

The company announced a second South Carolina site, and first distribution facility, in Colleton County. The $9 million investment in Walterboro will create 30 new jobs.

“This investment demonstrates our commitment to a terrific customer base in a growing market,” company vice president Jeff Strom said in an announcement Monday.

The company serves residential and industrial construction retail yards, manufacturing wood products and distributing wholesale materials.
