A Rock Hill company is expanding and adding its world headquarters. Plus, more jobs
A copper pipe maker will invest almost $20 million and create new jobs in Rock Hill.
The state commerce department announced PDM US will invest $18.5 million and create 25 new jobs when the company expands and establishes its world headquarters in York County. The company makes pre-insulated copper pipes and supplies copper tubes for the HVAC and refrigeration industries. The Rock Hill site served as the company’s main production facility and now will become its headquarters.
New generators, cooling systems and a mezzanine area are part of the 20,000-square-foot expansion at 640 Celriver Road. Expansion should be complete by April.
Company CEO Pasquale De Martino said the manufacturing site will be innovative, elegant and environmentally friendly.
“All together we are writing a page in the book of the American industry,” De Martino said in the announcement. “The best is yet to come.”
The company has been operating in York County for almost a decade.
“We couldn’t be more pleased that they chose to grow here in South Carolina,” said York County Council Chairwoman Christi Cox.
Mayor John Gettys said PDM is a valuable partner in Rock Hill’s manufacturing landscape.
“Expanding its plant to include American parts for production and creating additional opportunities for employment for our people is a testament to the strength of our local economy and our workforce,” Gettys said.
