Two more Main Street openings continue to change Fort Mill business landscape
The Flower Bar opens today in Fort Mill, in yet another wave of new Main Street business.
Friday’s grand opening runs 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Flower Bar opens at 221 Main St., suite 102. The interactive spot mixes floral arrangements, gifts, a bar, workshops and event hosting. Flower Bar has locations in Rock Hill and Spartanburg.
The Fort Mill site also will have a kitchen, with food and drink menus inspired by florals.
About halfway up the western side of Main Street, Flower Bar is one of many recent or planned additions.
On Valentine’s Day, the town historic review board gets a closer look at two more Main Street projects. At 217 Main St., Flipside Restaurant Group owners Jon and Amy Fortes plan to open Fortes Mill Eatery, or FM Eatery, in the former Local Dish space. It’s the same ownership group behind Flipside Cafe, Flipside Restaurant, Salmeri’s Kitchen and the planned Flip Out Burger across Fort Mill and Rock Hill.
Across the street at 124 Main St., updates come to the review board for women’s fashion boutique Vestique. The new store held its grand opening Feb. 4. Vestique offers contemporary women’s fashion and has almost a dozen sites across the Carolinas and Georgia. The review board decision involves new signage to promote the business.
In December, a broker with Ardor Commercial Advisors updated the review board on plans for 232 Main St. — the Kimbrell’s Furniture building — and the related warehouse building at 102 Tom Hall St. The site could bring a restaurant or possibly a brewery to the area, board members heard.
The warehouse site could have an outdoor patio fronting Tom Hall, with a single or two tenants at the 4,000-square-foot total space. The Kimbrell’s building was the last built on Main, in the late 1940s. It originally was a grocery store and has different architecture compared to other sites on Main. Kimbrell’s arrived in the late 1950s.
In conversation with the board, the property owner mentioned options from a vegan restaurant to a blues bar.
