Harbor Freight Tools announced Tuesday the company will open a new store at 710 Liberty St. East in York.

It will be the third tri-county Harbor Freight after stores in Rock Hill and Lancaster. There’s another just across the North Carolina line in Pineville.

The new York location will open this spring. A date and further details are forthcoming. Construction is underway.

In the announcement, company senior vice president for real estate and construction Trey Feiler said Harbor Freight has been looking to open a site in York for a number of years.

“In addition to finding a great location, we were attracted by the availability of great associates in the York area, and we look forward to having them join the Harbor Freight team,” Feiler said.

The new store will employ 25-30 people.

Harbor Freight specializes in affordable tools. The company has more than 1,300 locations nationwide and more than 25,000 employees. The company began in California in 1977. The first store opened in 1980. This year, the company will introduce more than 800 new tools and accessories.

Harbor Freight stores routinely have sales fliers with extensive coupons. Stores sell more than 50 brands. New tools include everything from drill bits, screws and hammers to electric generators, winches and engine stands.
