American Airlines adds resort city out West as newest destination for Charlotte airport
American Airlines is adding a new nonstop flight destination from Charlotte to a popular ski resort town in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, the airline confirmed Wednesday.
Service to Aspen will start Dec. 18 between Charlotte Douglas International Airport.Flights from CLT to the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport will run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The routes will continue through March 2026.
Those flights to ASE airport is a first for Charlotte Douglas, and will be the farthest city to the East that American operates out of Aspen, according to the airline.
Tickets will be available for purchase starting March 31 on aa.com.
Along with skiing and plentiful mountains, Aspen has many other attractions. The John Denver Sanctuary is located at Rio Grande Park. It has wetlands, picnic areas, trails and Theater Aspen, an entertainment venue. Aspen also has history museums and a downtown full of shops, restaurants and art galleries.
Other winter destinations from American Airlines
The airline is also offering winter service from Charlotteto beach destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America. This includes routes such as St. Vincent and the Grenadines, which launched last winter and daily flights to Antigua, Punta Cana and San Juan.
For the summer, American is launching nonstop flight to Athens on June 5. It was part of the airline’s 2025 schedule with flights to Europe.
American Airlines offers thousands of daily flights to more than 350 destinations in more than 60 countries. Charlotte Douglas is the second largest hub for American, which accounts for about 90% of all flights out of the airport.
